Job Title: PSYCHOLOGIST CASE MANAGER
Number of Posts: 1 Position
Type of Contract: Temporary Employment Contract
Contract Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension depending on funds availability
Desired Starting Date: 01 of July 2017
Reporting to: Project Coordinator – Sewan Women’s Empowerment Organization
Subordinates: Social workers, Community Mobilizers in Sewan women Social Centers
Duty Station: Duhok Governorate (Issyan and Dawudye IDP camps)
Background of the Intervention:
SEWAN Women’s Empowerment Organization through funds from UNFPA contributing towards enhance protection, increasing safety and promoting dignity of conflict-affected women and young girls within Iraqi IDPs across Dawudye and Issyan IDP camps, through the deployment of specialized team in Sewan Women Social Centers for increased identification GBV cases and service delivery within Support for GBV survivors among Iraqi IDPs project.
Background of the Organizations:
SEWAN Women’s Empowerment Organization is a non-profit non-governmental organization established in 2007 to work towards enhancing women’s rights through empowerment. Sewan operates in Duhok and Ninewa Governorates and mainly implements protection projects for vulnerable children, women and girls within IDPs, Refugees and host communities.
Job Description:
The Psychologist Case Manger is responsible for conducting individual specialized psychological and social counseling sessions with women and younggirls of Concern (GBV cases and SGBV cases). She will be also responsible for the identification, assessment and providing psycho-social support to SGBV and women, girls at risk. The Psychologist Case Manger will arrange GBVIMS, Referring and follow up the cases of GBV.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify, document, counsel and follow up individual protection GBV cases identify during mobile activities, including maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent;
- Document cases, develop individual assistance plan and refer GBV and SGBV cases to specialized service providers through established referral pathways;
- Conduct case-by-case needs assessments for the provision of psycho social and/or material assistance, if needed;
- Provide psychosocial support to individuals at risk;
- Provide group and individual counseling sessions, according to the identified needs;
- Guide the design and support facilitation of collective social activities for PoC, in particular women and young girls;
- Participate in coordinated protection needs assessments in target areas;
- Provide input and evidences on key protection risks and concerns for awareness and focus groups work plan;
- Collect and store information about services and activities implemented other actors in the camps;
- Perform other duties as assigned by project coordinator.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced university degree in psychology;
- Minimum two years of relevant professional experience as psychologist, with emphasis on psychological counseling work in relation to vulnerable populations;
- Strong knowledge of international protection and human rights legal standards;
- Experience in individual and collective counselling;
- Knowledge and experience in women and children rights and GBV concepts;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently;
- Excellent spoken and written Kurdish and Arabic;
- Good computer skills;
- A high respect to client/organization confidentiality;
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people with special needs;
- Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in emergencies and conflict areas;
- Familiarity with standards and guidelines for psychology protection programming and coordination;
- Ability to speak and write reports in Arabic, Kurdish and English;
- Flexibility and ability to cope with stressful situations;
- Previous working experience with IDPs, refugees and returnees.
